Andy the Archeologist has been a part of First Bible Baptist Church since June of 2006. Little did he know that God’s plan for his life would Reach Beyond his wildest imaginations. From his little home town of Provo, Utah to the utter most ends of the earth, God has used him to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Andy understands that not all of the kidz that he ministers to will visit the foreign field, so his mission is to bring the foreign field to the kidz. Andy’s desire is that the kidz will learn how: God views the world, God’s heartbeat for the world, God’s presence in the world, and God’s creation of the world.
His prayer is that the investment that he makes today will help the kidz to Reach Beyond tomorrow.
It all took place one day down under in the outback of Australia. Andy was tracking what he thought was a new species of lizard. It was one that he had studied for some time and had given it the name, LizardLion.
The creature had led him to the edge of cliff that looked over a 100-foot drop off. Andy then saw his chance! He had one shot to capture the animal. Just as he lunged forward to capture the beast, his foot slipped and he fell over the edge of the cliff. Andy managed to grab a hold of some tree roots that were sticking out from the side of the cliff. There he was hanging, with no one around to help him. Then he did what any Christian should do in a time of need. He bowed his head and prayed to God for help.
At that moment he heard some noise. He couldn’t believe his eyes! He saw a squirrel with a red cape flying above him. God had answered his prayer. The squirrel swooped down and saved Andy’s life. From that day forward they have been best friends. Andy gave him the name “Silas the Super Squirrel” because of how he was there to help him through a time of need. They now work together sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with children around the world.
To show Silas his appreciation, Andy gave him a gift of an Acorn which is a symbol of great life that lies within.
